Preparing for treatment

We are here to help you navigate this difficult time, and to professionally support you with knowledge and compassion.

When you or a loved one receives a cancer diagnosis, it is normal to feel overwhelmed. It is important to understand what to expect moving forward. Although everyone is different, the following steps are a common pathway for our patients.

1. First appointment

You will meet your specialist at your first appointment to discuss your diagnosis and treatment plan, addressing any questions or concerns you may have. Throughout your entire treatment, your specialist will continue to care for you.

2. Before starting treatment

Further to your first appointment, one of our experienced care team members will spend time with you to explain your treatment; what to expect and how to manage possible treatment side effects. They will also discuss any questions with you and your family to help relieve any possible anxiety.

3. Beginning treatment

Your appointment and treatment cycle length is dependent upon the treatment you are going to receive. Throughout your treatment and beyond, your clinical oncologist and healthcare team will monitor your progress, address your side effects and listen to any concerns or fears you may have.
